Sóley Hyman

Astronomy Graduate Student

University of Arizona, Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory

Hello!

Headshot

I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory at the University of Arizona. My current research interests are in galaxy and stellar dynamics. I work with Dr. Kate Daniel on galaxy evolution and identifying chaotic orbits in simulations.

I completed my B.A. in Astrophyics and Physics at Harvard University in 2019, where I worked on my senior thesis with Dr. Belinda Wilkes on an intensive multiwavelength study of an unusual galaxy system. After graduating, I worked at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics for a year, continuing my thesis work.

I am also heavily involved in efforts to make astronomy more accessible for the blind and low vision community, which you can read about under LightSound Project and Other Outreach.
